ECOF Privacy Policy

The Ernest C. Oberholtzer Foundation (ECOF) values the privacy of our supporters and visitors. ECOF collects information only to help us better serve our supporters and visitors. It is our policy to collect and store only personal information that is knowingly provided to us. We do not share personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection of information from this website that can personally identify you and/or your organization, and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.

Personal Information Collected

Through ECOF’s supporter database, ECOF collects and stores contact information from individuals as it is knowingly provided to us, including email addresses. ECOF does not distribute personal information or email addresses to third parties. We use this information to contact individuals via email and mail with additional resources that might be of interest, including upcoming events and trainings, program and volunteer weeks, new publications, or other resources. You may choose at any time not to provide personally identifiable information, although this may restrict our ability to provide requested services or information.

The following are examples of personally identifiable information that you may volunteer to provide and examples of how we use such information.

  1. Email Addresses – ECOF collects email addresses from those that subscribe to emails, register for events/program or volunteer work weeks. ECOF may use your email address to send you emails from ECOF, including informational emails from ECOF, updates from the foundation or email newsletters. To unsubscribe to any or all of ECOF emails, click on Unsubscribe. ECOF does not distribute email addresses to third parties.
  2. Mailing Addresses – ECOF collects mailing addresses of those that register for events (program or volunteer work weeks and other events) or make donations. ECOF may send via mail member newsletters, event announcements and acknowledgements for financial donations. To opt out of any mailings from ECOF, please email info@eober.org.
  3. Cookies – Many websites, including this one, use cookies – pieces of numeric data stored on your computer so that we can identify when you return to our website. ECOF can only “read” cookies that are placed on your computer from our own website. Usage of cookies is not linked to any personally identifiable information. You can select to disable cookies by changing your browser settings. If you choose to disable cookies in your browser, you will not be able to access portions of our website content.

Financial Data Security

ECOF does not disclose credit card account information provided by its donors and customers. When donors and customers choose to pay by credit card, it is done through a secure credit card processing service.

Photographs

ECOF takes photographs during public events, program weeks on Mallard Island, solicits photographs from our members of their work, and occasionally selects quality photos for distribution via this website, social media, or other means. Photos are taken in public settings during public events. If you are included in a photograph and would prefer that it not be distributed, please contact ECOF at info@eober.org and let us know what photo and where you saw it. We will do our best to remove it from circulation.

Embedded Content from Other Sites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How Long We Retain Your Data

We store the personal information provided to us in supporter profiles indefinitely. See CHOICE TO OPT OUT below for instructions on how to request removal of your data from ECOFs database.

Choice to Opt Out

ECOF provides all individuals the opportunity to opt out of having their personal information used for certain purposes. If you are a supporter of ECOF, have registered for an event, have attended a week on Mallard or have made a donation to ECOF and no longer wish to receive communications, or would like ECOF to erase any personal data we hold about you, please email us at info@eober.org. You may opt out of receiving paper communications by emailing info@eober.org. You may opt out of email communications by clicking unsubscribe in the email you receive. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. You can also manage your subscriptions – email eober.org to learn how.
